I have been coaching triathlon since the late 90’s and in this time my thirst for learning has seen me travel the world to gain the knowledge of leading experts. I have educated myself in the hard skills of science & soft skills of coaching. Whatever your level I know I can help you improve your triathlon racing.
Swim coaches who have swum at an elite level do not know what its like to "not feel the water" or for their "legs to sink". I couldn’t swim until my mid 20’s, a discipline I really struggled with.
I have studied the art of swimming and I know exactly how to improve the beginner. Furthermore, with my experience at the elite end of our sport with many ITU junior or senior elite athletes, I also know how to make the swimmer faster, more efficient in open water.
Cycling takes the biggest chunk of time in triathlon yet so many people still think they just jump on and ride! This is far form true; the technique of cycling is very intricate. Using Whattbikes and rollers and finally riding with you outside, I will ensure your cycling becomes a strength.
Having the right set up is key, whether for comfort or aerodynamics. Then learning to use the right muscles for cycling will give you more power thus speed and fresher running muscles!
The only weight-bearing discipline in triathlon and the one area most people will develop injuries form. With the right running technique, you will not only see a drop in injury rate, you will see a fantastic increase in your running economy, thus faster finishing times!
STRENGTH & CONDIDITIONING
Ensuring you are strong, supple and have good range of movement is key to staying injury free.
If the key component of improving in triathlon is consistency, staying injury free has to be your top priority; strength training therefore must be part of your weekly training routine.
